Students can explore majors and minors at the 3rd Annual Majors Fair

Undecided majors may now have a better idea of where their academic careers are headed thanks to the Majors fair sponsored by the University College Division of Academic Advisement. The Majors Fair will take place Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. The fair is designed to assist students in choosing their majors or minors by bringing together representatives from the various departments and colleges on campus.

Students will have the chance to speak to faculty and staff members and gain insight on the variety of academic programs offered at PV.

Mrs. Lettie Raab, executive director of University College and sponsor of the Majors Fair, said, “This fair takes months to plan, but the opportunities it gives to our students to learn more about our academic programs is worth every minute of time spent.”

Like many large events, the Majors Fair is more than a bunch of people coming together to chat with students,” Raab said. “We are forming committees to make the third annual Majors Fair an even better event than last year. We will work with many campus entities to make it happen, and many details are involved, everything from door prizes, to electrical outlets, to creating marketing, and promotional handouts for faculty, staff and students must be considered.”

More than 900 students attended last year’s Majors Fair.

“This year’s fair is expected to be a greater success,” Fred Bragg, event’s coordinator, said. We estimate that over 1,500 students will be in attendance. We’re very excited about the Third Anuual Majors Fair and hope we can continue to provide this very valuable event for students in the future.
