38 and 48 triumph in UCFL championship

The University College football league championship was held last week, Tuesday, Nov. 9. This was the league’s first season in action and it was very successful.
The season started with many teams, and now it was down to four. Buildings 37 and 48 battled for the women’s title. But within the last few minutes of the game 48 got the ball to the 60-yard line, ran for a 20-yard touchdown and extra point, to win the game 13-6. The highly anticipated men’s championship was one to remember. 38 upped the level of play in the first half of the game by intercepting the ball on the 20-yard line and returning it for a touchdown. 36 retaliated with a 60-yard touchdown pass, after the interception, but 38 came back with a vengeance when 38’s quarterback heaved a 70-yard hail mary to the end zone. The end of the first half was nearing and 38 scored another touchdown pass after 36 turned the ball over. 38’s receiver’s must have dipped their hands in glue before the game, racking up over 200 yards in passing.

The pace of the game slowed a little in the second half, but 38 continued on their tandem with the type of passes that would hurt a team’s self- esteem. 36 scored another two more times, but that wasn’t enough. 38 won the men’s championship 26-22.
