Got Book?

Do you “Got Book?” Well, you will this year. Mase isn’t the only one who can take a five-year break and then make a comeback. After a five-year hiatus, the Prairie View A&M University Panther Yearbook is BACK!!!!!!!!
Yes Panthers, we haven’t had a yearbook since 1998/1999, but the wait is over. The Pantherland Yearbook staff has been diligently working to make this the best yearbook the campus has ever seen.

Terrance Gilbert, a junior architecture major, is the editor in chief of the Panther Yearbook and Antauis Byrd, a freshman business major, is the managing editor. Currently, the staff sits at 34 members, most of whom have had previous experience working on a yearbook. You may have seen many of them walking around with cameras or snapping photos of on-campus activities. “You can expect a lot more color, features, and faculty pages this time around,” says Gilbert. Most of the organizations will have their own pages to better portray campus life. In total, the yearbook will have 312 excitement-filled pages for the students to enjoy. With the inclusion of new design concepts as well, this year’s book will be a must have for every Panther. The yearbook is scheduled to be complete in June 2005 and will be available for purchase in October 2005. In order to ensure that everyone is able to purchase a book, it is projected to cost between $20 and $30.

The theme of 2004-2005 yearbook is “A Side Never Seen.” Professional headshot photographs will be taken on Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Lounge on the second floor and all students are encouraged to participate. Graduating seniors are especially invited to come out and caps and gowns will be provided for them to take photographs. There is no cost to get a photo taken. Also, later on this month, class pictures will be taken.

“Our mission is not to produce a book only for this year, we are hoping to reestablish the yearbook as an ongoing tradition here at Prairie View,” says Gilbert. The Yearbook office is located on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center in room 219.
