Prairie View students need to become more involved in the university and the issues at hand. We, as students, like to be reactive instead of proactive. There are things happening at this university and we are idly standing by and not voicing our opinions. Speak up and let your voice be heard. Students constantly complain about what’s wrong with the university, yet, what do you do to make things better? Did you attend the meeting with the president? Did you attend the meeting on planning to voice your opinion in Austin? Oh, you didn’t have time. You can make time for everything but the right thing.
Another problem is we continuously have these “cliques.” Meaning you’re in a clique, but when something goes down they don’t have your back. If you feel like standing up for an issue but you won’t because your concerned about what you’re friends think, you quickly need to get that notion out of your mind. Sorry to tell you, they weren’t your friends in the first place. Stand on your own two feet and be a man or woman about what you stand for. The saying “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything” is so true.
Have enough respect for yourself and the university that you will receive a degree from to let everyone know that you are not afraid and you have a voice.
