While most of the students of Prairie View A&M University were headed home for Spring Break, several members of the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) headed to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Spring Competition Training Workshop. The workshop was designed to assist the teams in preparing for the regional competition set for April 10-11 in Dallas, Texas. There the students learned the ins and outs of developing its annual report and presentation before the judges. Additionally, the students had an opportunity to meet other teams from around the state and region. Members participating included Troy Charleston, Harold Franklin, Deviyon Gillian, Byron Greer, Blake Roberson, Greg Rose, Marvin Shanklin, Brandon Shelby, Lynn Smith. Lee Gillian, Program Assistant (SIFE Fellow) and Frederick Roberts, Sam Walton Fellow accompanied the team.
The workshop was conducted by SIFE officials, Tim Clow, Managing Director, US Program, Jack Wooten, Vice President for Development and Eric Burgainis,Director South Regional Program Director. Projects remaining on the team’s calendar for the year include a Salute to Women in Technology and Women Entrepreneurs program on March 22 at 7 p.m. in room 1A110 Hobart Taylor Hall. The event commemorates National Women’s History Month and is directed by Harold Franklin and Shariyun Alberty; a Personal Investment in the Global Economy seminar on March 29 at 7 p.m., in Room 1A110 Hobart Taylor Hall; Music Business Seminar and the Changing the World Talent Showcase III on April 23. Auditions for the show are at 6:30 p.m. – to 9 p.m. on March 21 in Room A103 Science Building and March 24 in Room A104 Science Building.
