It’s about time!!!

After attending last week’s toga party hosted by Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc., I realized what this school was missing. I’m not talking about the need for more parties, or women walking around half naked with togas, what we need is a more open-minded and unified student life.I’ve addressed this topic early in the year on how our school has lost its “mojo.” I can’t remember any school function since 2002, that was worth attending on campus. I mean, the students promote their own personal parties at the community center better than the campus activity board promotes school related events.

But that was then because lately, the student body seems to be a lot more unified and spirited. It seems like the good ole days are coming back when people actually put time and money into planning events, and the parties have themes.

At the toga party there had to be at least 300 people. This is the first time I can remember, since maybe (as I said earlier), 2002, that I was at a party and had just a great time.

DJ Mr. Rogers, as always, kept the crowd moving with old school and the latest music, from Mike Jones to John Legend. All the songs were right on time. Most important of all, the party did not end because of a fight. Nobody was really worried about “I don’t like him or her.” It was a nice atmosphere where you could dance or just mingle with your fellow students. Everyone was on the same accord and together as one.

Too bad it has to be at the end of the year, but it’s just begun. This has just set a precedent for the semester to come. Until then “I’ll be looking for the next Kappa party,” or “toga party,” whichever comes first.
