Adults share valuable information with other adults. Children share childhood secrets with one another. And sometimes administration chooses to share information with Prairie View students. Sometimes. Even though the student of Prairie View are adults, and should be treated as such, administration sometimes fails to provide information that should be shared with their clients, the students.
Recently PV experienced a very threatening situation on campus, and only a handful of students were aware that it could have been devastating, or maybe even prevented.
This adult information was withheld from students because administration, or a certain administrator didn’t feel it was necessary for students to get involved or for students to even know.
This is a university, filled with students and it seems that the first people you would want to inform would be the students.
My question to administration is: when is news important enough or relevant enough for you to share with your students? Especially when it’s life threatening.
For those who are unaware of what happened on our campus in the past week, I challenge you to question those in charge. Those we assume would care about your being safe, who would inform us of any impending danger.
If they refuse to answer, question until they do.
