Psi Chi seminar focuses on getting into graduate school

Prospective graduate school students in the field of psychology gathered on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the John B. Coleman library for a seminar.The event was hosted by the National Honor Society in Psychology. The seminar emphasized how to get into college.

The vice president of Psi Chi, Lakeisha Buckner said, “The best way to try to find the right graduate school is to do research into programs, make sure you have recommendation letters, and always make every deadline.”

The seminar was not just geared towards psychology majors, but to any major. “We want to get as many Prairie View students as possible in graduate school,” said Dr. Derrick Wilson, undergraduate coordinator of the psychology department.

The president of Psi Chi, Deneka Dove said, “The benefits of getting into graduate school are to learn more knowledge in your field and to gain more acceptance into jobs of your interests.”

Part two of graduate school preparations will be on March 28 at 5 p.m. in the library. They will be reviewing resumes and giving feedback on them.
