President George C. Wright was among eight community leaders who were honored with the Award of Excellence at the 7th Annual Members Schools Professional Conference of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund held March 15 in Las Vegas, Nev. The three-day conference brought together more than 500 attendees to share ideas and goals on the mission of preparing the next generation of leaders. Attendees included university presidents, executive staff member, alumni, students, community leaders, and industry professionals.
The participants attended workshops that focused on issues such as strategic management and leadership techniques.
Carol Campbell, director of special events at Prairie View A&M University, was one of the conference co-chairs.
The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships and support to 47 public historically black colleges and universities.
