On March 28, 2006 students as well as parents and friends were invited to attend the reception for students who were honor roll students. This event was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. as stated by the invitations that were sent out by the President’s office. However, to my dismay and others who were present this event was a disgrace. The event was hosted by the College of Business, and I, along with several other students and parents were quite amazed. One may ask the question why were we amazed? Well, this event was “hosted by the Business School” and to see that the level of professionalism displayed at this event was so tardy. Sadly enough, it makes us have to wonder if this is the SPquality of students we are producing here at our business school.
Another issue was the manner in which some students had their parents attending this reception and they had to stand in this banquet room. Also to see how they handed the cheap certificates out to students. The paper which was used for the certificates was the same paper used to print out homework assignments, instead of the usual high quality certificate paper. My question to those who hosted this event is do you think you did justice to the students who were honored? Don’t you think you owe us and our parents an apology?
In conclusion I do hope that next year will be much better, and that the committee which is planning this event will do a much better job in respect to those they will be honoring in 2006/2007.
