As we embark on a new school year here on “The Hill,” we also embark on new technology and ways to improve our student body.
The office of Fiscal Services now provides a brand new quick and easy system to assist students in the disbursement and receiving of their overpayment checks, which has conveniently been dubbed, PV Pay. This new system which can be accessed exclusively online allows undergraduate and graduate students alike to receive their re-imbursement checks through their major checking or savings account the moment it hits their fees. Registration is simple and only requires that you have access to a computer, your banking information, and a few minutes of free time. To register you would access PantherTracks, select “enter student services,” enter your user I.D. and pin number, select “Bank Account Information,” enter your information, and then just sit back and wait for your check. With all of the new advancements here on “The Hill,” it seems as if this new spurt in campus technology could not have come at a better time. “I’m so excited that we can now get our checks routed directly to our bank accounts. After four long years of taking numbers, waiting in lines, and being herded around in The Baby Dome like cattle just for a couple of hundred dollars that are already spent before I even sign for my check, this new advancement defiantly cuts the stress and anticipation of overpayment checks in half,” said Senior Afton J. McDonald.
No checking account? No problem, not only does PV Pay make itself accessible to students with major banking accounts, but it also provides a service for those who are without such access. The PV Pay website offers an array of banks as well as banking associates and branch managers, which can be accessed directly from the page, and allows students to immediately register with local and nation banks, and then directly links their new bank and PV Pay. “I’m proud to say that my school is stepping to the forefront of technological advancement; often times we as students will say “Look at what that school has,” now other schools will be saying that about us. I’m proud that Prairie View is using its technology in order to further advance us as students,” said Junior Ashley Copeland. “This system is all around great; it helps those with or without bank accounts, as well as those who may not have access to transportation to cash those checks, and not to mention it keeps your parents out of your mail.”
This new system helps students in more ways than imaginable, on top of eliminating extending waiting from morning until noon, this new service also frees up more time for the faculty and staff, in order to allow them to better access other information in various departments, to better facilitate and assist the growing needs of the ever expanding student body. With Prairie View now meeting most of our needs via-online, it won’t be long before all of our campus needs can be met with just the click of a mouse.
