TaCho Richard and Ashley Campbell were recognized for their performances in Prairie View A&M University’s run to capture the 2006 Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball championship. Richard was named the tournament’s most valuable player and to the all-tournament team and Campbell was selected to the all-tournament team. Richard, a 5-9, senior from LaPorte, Texas, was credited with 49 points in tournament. She recorded 34 kills, 120 total attacks and 10 aces. Defensively, she had 38 digs, three solo blocks and six blocking assists.
A 5-10 sophomore from Tyler, Texas, Campbell registered 143 total attacks and 65 kills. She came up big for Prairie View in the title game against Mississippi Valley State with 22 kills and 24.5 points.
“I’m really happy for Richard and Campbell. They’ve done a great job for us all year long and they really stepped it up in the tournament,” said PVAMU head coach Alicia Pete. “This is a great reward for all of the hard work they’ve put in all season long.
