Lady Panthers blow out another conference foe

The Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M University took on the Mississippi Valley Lady Devils Saturday. The Lady Panthers got off to a lightning start against their opponents with early baskets from Gaati Werema and Candice Thomas. Mississippi Valley had a hard time trying to control the Lady Panther offense and at times looked as they were scoring at will. As the half progressed Prairie View stifled the Lady Devils with strong defense and great offensive production by the talented Lady Panther backcourt.

The struggling Mississippi Valley squad tried to fight off the barrage of baskets from the Prairie View offense, but found it too much and went into the half down 27- 8.
In the opening of the second half the Lady Panthers continued to dominate the Lady Devils, with strong offensive production from the backcourt of Thomas and Smith.

The Lady Panthers continued to build a massive lead scoring at any given opportunity against the nearly useless Valley defense. They continued to show offensive effectiveness by putting together a 30-point lead midway through the second half.
Mississippi tried to put together a comeback but found the Lady Panthers were too much to handle. Shavonne Smith led the Lady Panther team with 19 points in the 77-60 victory.

Prairie View put together an impressive win against a formidable opponent and put another win on an already stellar record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
