More than 80 companies, businesses, and governmental agencies provided students with employment opportunities at the spring 2007 career fair.
The event was held Tuesday Feb. 27, in the Memorial Student Center ballroom. Students from a variety of majors and classifications attended to see what employment opportunities were in store for them.
Many of the industry’s top companies participated in the event, including American Airlines, AXA Advisors, Bechtel Corporation, Boeing, Careerbuilder.Com, Cargill, Dell, Duke Energy, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Fort Bend Baptist Academy, Flour Corporation, Glazers Distributors, Hewlett Packard, Jacobs Engineering, Lockheed Martin, Medical Center of Arlington, Omaha Public Power District, Plano Police Department, Raytheon, Shell Oil Company, Texas Instruments, United Space Alliance, and Walgreens, just to name a few.
Senior Kelli Myers said, “I thought the job fair was very beneficial. There were many companies representing my field and I made some valuable contacts in the industry. I hope to see more events like this on campus in the near future.”
Students who attended the career fair had the opportunity to network with potential employers, distribute resumes, and speak with recruiters about employment and internship opportunities. Many companies were also interviewing students on site.
Frederick V. Roberts from the Office of Career Services said, “The Spring 2007 career fair was unprecedented, for the first time in the history of the spring program ,we had over 80 companies, government agencies, and educational institutions to participate in the program. Another unique thing about this fair is that several companies were hiring students on the spot. every major was represented.
