U R what U eat

In college it’s hard to be healthy, and living on the campus of Prairie View A&Mout in the country is not easy, because of the lack of healthy food options.I spent two long years living on this campus, being subjected to Sodexho, the Grill, and the university’s lack of food choices and healthy options. My weight had become an issue, as is the case withmany other students. I spent nearly a $1000 a semester, forced by the university to have a meal plancatered by the infamous Sodexho. Sodexho lacks creativity, style, flavor and worst of all substance; whichhas left a sour taste in my mouth and a pain in my stomach.

Communication senior Valencia Wade, 23, said”Ithink Sodexho should change its menus more often as well asprovide more healthy options.Yes, salad and fruit are healthy and good, but there are more ways to decrease weight gain and food intake. Smaller servings and better tasting food would help. Many times I go eat in the MSC and end up using the rest room minutesor an hour later. I don’t know what is in the food, but I always end up with a stomachache afterwards. All in all, there should be better food choices.”

I have seen the Prairie View A&M University population grow in size, pants size. As students lack the convenience and options other than a neon”We Stay Open Late” signat Williams Fried Chicken, the main proprietor of the food business, Sodexho should accommodate Prairie View A&M’s students, staff, and visitors with quality, style, creativity and more importantly, true substance, so students will not be forced to make a late night creep trip to Williams or worse, down HWY 290 to Jack in the Box.

The studentsof Prairie View A&M should be provided with better food choices and healthy options, besidesalad and fruit. We have paid for it and therefore we deserve better than what is being offered. I need and wanta healthy mind, body and spirit, and I’m counting on Sodexho to properly feed my body; and my mind and spirit will follow, naturally.
