John Cochran Jr., head coach of the men’s and women’s teams says “both teams are looking to make history.” If or when the tennis teams win the SWAC championship, it will be the first time a men’s and women’s team of the same sport has won the SWAC championship.
Both teams are experienced in their craft, the men’s team has four players from their 2005 SWAC championship team. The women’s team is young, but very talented with plenty of experience.
Cochran says one thing he has noticed from day until now is, “The team has come together, they are a lot tighter, and they are starting to peak.” Which is nothing but good news.
