After losing 1-3 to Grambling State University Friday, the Lady Panthers redeemed themselves as they blew out Arkansas Pine-Bluff, 6-0 on Sunday.
The Panthers put the pressure on both teams and Pine-Bluff ultimately succumbed to the Panther’s defense. Grambling’s goalie Cherie Silas proved the reason for her arrogance when the game ended 1-3. Prairie View’s only goal came from Jessica Garcia on a penalty kick.
Oct. 14 the Lady Panthers trampled over Arkansas Pine Bluff, finishing the game with 6-0. The ladies were truly hyped and kept up the pressure the entire game.
The team practice on Saturday must have truly taught them lesson teamwork, because they were effectively passing and communicating. Our team showed no lack of confidence and dominated the field.
As the crowd yelled, “Go big girl” you couldn’t help but notice Kaleena Marshall taking on multiple girls as she dazzled them with her wondrous footwork. But she did not do this alone, players Mayra Castillo and Brenda Castillo were maintaing the defensive support. Angelica Diaz and Brenda Castillo had two goals, while Anna Rabino and Mayra Castillo each had one.
It was great to see the crowds cheer and finally win a game on their home turf. Way to go Lady Panthers. Be sure to come out on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 as they play Alcorn State at 5 p.m. in Prairie View.
