The Eta Beta Chapter of
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
crowned Waller High School senior
Kaelyn Thompson as the 2009-2010
Miss Jabberwock winner March 23
in the E.B. Evans Animal Industries
building.
Keeping with the Delta
week theme of C.I.A., the contestants
were called the Delta Force.
The Jabberwock Pageant
gives young women who are about
to graduate from high school the
opportunity to participate in a pageant
where they can win scholarship
money for the college of their
choice.
“The pageant is not just a
pageant, it is also like a small men-

toring session that the young women
experience, as well as learn how to
illustrate their intelligence, personality,
and their beautiful talents to
the community,” said member Kristina
Barnes.
The young ladies were
judged on intelligence, grace, and
personality in five categories including
active wear, business wear, talent,
formal wear, and question and
answer.
“I am so proud of them.
They worked so hard and I wish I
could have given all of them a scholarship,”
Barnes said. “I know they
will all grow up to be wonderful and
prestigious women some day in the
workforce because they’re all headstrong
and they’re so determined.”
Thompson said she appreciated
Barnes greatly.
“I am extremely humble,
completely surprised, and extremely
grateful,” Thompson said. “Kristina
bent over backwards for all of uswhether it was picking us up from
school, talking to our managers at
work, or even taking out of her own
pocket to help us.”
