Students gathered around the dinner table in the Pardus Cafe to be educated on the subject of fine dining as part of the Department of Management and Marketing’s professional development program on Thursday.
Professor Dewaynna Cates, of the College of Business said, “We have designated a series of professional development seminars for students taking leadership and ethics courses in order to prepare them for the things they will face after they graduate.”
Randi Mays-Knapp, a self-employed consultant from College Station, Texas, worked with students, teaching them how to conduct themselves at the dinner table during a business-like setting.
Mays-Knapp said, “When an employer hires someone they trust them to represent that firm on their behalf. Therefore, students should be properly trained in all areas so that they can be as versatile as possible when conducting business.”
The professional development program’s curriculum consists of a six-week-program designed to prepare students for success in the business world. The program began on Sept. 10, and will continue until Oct. 15.
