Highlighting Hispanic Heritage

Forty years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson created an act expressing the need for America to celebrate Hispanic culture and customs. With the recent change from a week to a month, this year from Sept 15 through Oct 15 Prairie View will honor the traditions of the Hispanic culture with a month of festivities.

Carrying out the theme, “Embracing the Fierce Urgency of Now,” multicultural affairs has prepared various activities encouraging non-Hispanic students to educate themselves on the history, evolution and forward movement of the Hispanic culture.

During this month students can observe contemporary art by Phillip Lopez in the display cases of the J.B. Coleman Library.

Also, students can look forward to these upcoming events hosted by the following organizations:
