University officials have confirmed that Donnie Wade, a junior biology major, died Tuesday after being in critical condition at North Cypress Hospital on Highway 290 in Cypress, Texas.

Wade was transported to the hospital after experiencing difficulty during an early morning run at Hempstead High School. The circumstances of his death are being investigated by university police. There was no immediate information on the cause of death at press time, but autopsy was pending.

Wade, a Dallas native, transferred from Stephen F. Austin State University to Prairie View A&M University in the spring of 2009.

He was 20 years-old and graduated from Life High School.

According to Lt. David Webb of the department of public safety, the university is still conducting an internal investigation on the incident.
