PVAMU grieves loss of two students

PVAMU has lost two more students, Freshman business management major George Denton, Jr. died Saturday, Jan. 9, and 21-year-old architecture major David Allen Webster Burnell died early Sunday, Jan. 16, from injuries related to a one car accident in Killeen, Texas.

A native of New Orleans, students and University staff who knew him report that Denton was a spirited student who exhibited school pride and commitment to his studies.

“The entire PVAMU family is saddened to hear the news of such an untimely death. We extend our condolences to his family and friends during their time of bereavement,” said Prairie View A&M President George C. Wright.

Burnell’s wake was held on Friday, Jan. 22 from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church in Waco. His funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. at the Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, Texas.

“We are saddened by the loss of David Burnell,” said Prairie View A&M President George C. Wright. “We mourn the passing of this young man, and on behalf of the University community, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.”
