Why do people steal?

Recently I’ve noticed that people seem to feel that it is OK to steal. Theft has always been among civilization. People who have not see that which someone else has and feel the right to take illegal ownership by dishonorable deeds. I’ve always believed that whatever I do to other people eventually God would see to it that I would reap what I had sown. Some call it karma; others call it negative energy and so on. But why do college students feel it is OK to steal and cheat in order to get ahead?

Behavior such as this can only lead to a big “F” either in class or in life in the form of a pink slip. Thou shalt not steal says the eighth commandment in God’s Ten Commandments. People lost hands and heads back in the day for laying their hands to a marketplace apple or item of clothing. But in the present the art of “sticky fingas” is a skill, which has a simple credo that unless you get caught it’s not stealing.

Theft is popularized in videogames such as “Grand Theft Auto,” movies such as “Ocean’s Eleven,” and the upcoming movie “Takers.” People download and burn illegal music and movies online and think nothing of it. I am guilty as well of this. But there has to be more to deter this from taking place.

If someone were to steal a person’s wallet, they have no idea how it could harm their victim in the long run. Without money, a person could not be able to travel to help a family member in need, or miss a rent payment, which gets them evicted from their place of residence. What if someone stole from your mother or grandmother? Wouldn’t you want to get that person in a dark alley and engage in fisticuffs? So keep those hands covered in superglue in your pockets.
