Student accused of shoplifting in Ala.

This past weekend a student was retained in Montgomery, Ala. due to an accusation of shoplifting in Dillard’s following a designated rest point on the return trip from Atlanta.

The student remained in Alabama.

“It was supposed to be a regular rest stop in which students were able to get food and I didn’t think a student would make a wrong decision, “said Steven Ransom, director of student activities. “He was on a school function and had to represent a PV man.”

Not much information has been released about the situation but a Student Conduct hearing has been set. Under the PVAMU student code of conduct he could receive sanctions from conduct probation to expulsion from the university.

“I believe the event was simply a hard lesson taught,” said junior electrical engineering major Trenton Johnson. “We must come up to a point where we focus on prevention of a bad situation versus trying to repair one.”
