The question remains, “did the ROC ever leave?” Monday, February 22, in Houston, Texas, Jay Z powered the stage with his lyrical genius in front of a packed Toyota Center. “All Black Everything,” was definitely the fashioned statement for the night’s festivities.
The preshow acts included Trey Songz and Young Jeezy, who both rocked the all black look. With Trey Songz being the first act to come out, he more than just a little bit heated things up.
With Trey’s wide vocal range and sensual lyrics, there wasn’t a reason why every single woman in the audience wasn’t fantasizing about him in one way or another. After Trey Songz’ set, there was a pause in the concert of over 30 minutes, with Young Jeezy being scheduled to come on next, while onlookers were getting impatient with the delay.
Rumors began to fly that Young Jeezy had received only half of his money and wasn’t going on stage until he received the other half. With time running down to seconds, the audience began to get antsy wondering who was going to appear on stage.
With the clock at zero the crowd went wild when Jigga himself rose onto the stage. Rapping songs such as “Dirt of Your Shoulder,” “99 Problems,” “On to the Next,” and “Empire State of Mind” as well as many others from his previous albums. There wasn’t anyone silent or sitting in the entire arena after the second Hova hit the stage.
To everyone’s excitement Young Jeezy appeared on stage during a collaboration song he and Jay Z had together, after which Young Jeezy performed his set (guess he got his money). Special guests included Bun B, and rapper Memphis Bleek. there was also a big tribute to Pimp C, and the packed house was more than pleased. With the overwhelming energy fans were giving off, Jay Z performed an extra 20 minutes.
All in all the Roc was definitely in the building. Concert goers left more than pleased with the Blue Print 3 Tour.
