As fashion week at PVAMU continues, Students In Free Enterprise welcomed four international students to take part in their Cultural Fashions program in the student lounge on Feb. 23.
Nick Elliott, Laura Fedorciow, and Bokani Tshidzu of Bath University in Bath, England, along with Darren Cunningham of Imperial College-London in London, England, all of whom are members of S.I.F.E., visited Prairie View A&M University as part of their Route Master 66 tour of America.
The Route Master 66 tour is a 10-month adventure around the United States, taken by the four students.
Frederick V. Roberts, assistant director for career and outreach services and Sam Walton fellow for SIFE, said, “Being involved with SIFE’s members from around the world gives the students a better perspective. They can read about it or watch a video, but once they interact with them they can see how they are no different than themselves, and how they bring the same qualities to the table, only the international students tend to appreciate things more than the American students.”
Although Fedorciow and Tshidzu will be departing from the tour at the end of March, the male participants, Elliot and Cunningham will tour the United States until the end of November.
While in America, the Route Master 66 tour is scheduled to make stops at a variety of prestigious and entertaining events, including the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 17, the Pro Golf Association’s U.S. Masters tournament in Augusta, Ga., on April 5, the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Ky., on April 23, Myrtle Beach Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on May 7, World Barbeque Championships in Memphis, Tenn., on May 14, and NASCAR’s Indy 500 in Indianapolis, Ind., on May 30.
The next scheduled destination of the Route Master 66 tour is Austin, Texas.
Fedorciow said, “The energy and enthusiasm that we’ve come across is something we would like to replicate and bring back to the UK. If we could transfer half of the energy that you all possess would be great.”
Senior English and marketing major Anita Jones said, “This is important because it opens up your perspective to things that are occuring overseas. It’s bigger than PV, other students are making changes on their end as well.”
