For the first time in Prairie View A&M University history the Lady Panthers soccer team is having a spring soccer schedule.
Their first match took place on March 6 against the Puerto Rican National team at Huskie field and against Houston Baptist college.
The PVAMU Panthers had their hearts set out on a win and took on the challenge against their competition in an 8 vs. 8-formatted play style.
The first exhibition resulted in an up and down affair against Prairie View A&M University and Houston Baptist.
The Panthers fell behind after the HBC had obtained a 1-0 lead over the Panthers. Yosselyn Aguilar kicked in a goal for the team, as well as her first personal goal for the season, setting the score at 1-1.
The final score remained 1-1, sending Prairie View A&M University and Houston Baptist College home with a draw. The Lady Panthers of held their second and more intense match against The Puerto Rican National B Team.
The Lady Panthers were denied access to their opponents’ goal. National B moved past the Panthers like they had wings carrying them to PVAMU’S goal. The final score was set 3-0, in favor of for National B.
Prairie View A&M University ended with a draw and a loss head coach Abe Garcia stated “Overall our girls did well having to adjust to the small and faster setting, It forced us to adjust quickly and understand the game better, which will all in all continue the overall growth and improvement of our team”.
