Lady Panthers season comes to end

The Lady Panthers softball team closed out their 2010 season in a series of matches against the Grambling State Tigers.

In the first game of the match up, the Ladies got off to a great start and held their momentum the entire game.

The Panthers acquired 10 hits holding the Lady Tigers to a total of only six hits and three runs. Both teams had no errors and the impact players of the game were Lauren Grun, Artavia Woods, and Jasmin Littles. The Lady Panthers fought hard and were able to successfully pull out the win with a final score of 4-3. Despite the monumental beginning of the series, the Ladies weren’t able to maintain the same fight in the second game.

The four errors made by the Panthers combined with the lack of offensive action proved unfavorable for the Ladies leaving the score of game two 10-0. In the third game the offensive efforts picked up but never achieved the same momentum of the first game. In the end consistency determined the true champion of the game, the Ladies fell 9-4 to Grambling State University. “We started out motivated and on one accord, but as the series of games continued we allowed ourselves to find contentment in the first win, while Grambling on the other hand kept fighting until they were finished” said Grun.

“The work won’t stop with the conclusion of the season. The off season is where change happens. We’re going to keep working so that we can dominate our conference next year,” said Brittanie Gardner.
