In an effort to raise awareness for Cancer, the Office of Cultural Series and Multicultural affairs hosted the first annual Relay for Life at Blackshear Stadium on April 24.
Isis McCraw, program coordinator II for the Office of Cultural Series, said, “The committee is extremely delighted with the turnout of our first relay. Students and teams turned out in great numbers and we’ve raised approximately ten thousand dollars to go towards the American Cancer Society’s goal of educating and providing our community with services for cancer patients. The committee has worked harder than you will ever know and wants to thank everyone for their support.”
Participants walked all night to signify the fight against cancer. Vendors set up all night to sell items and raise money for cancer research. All proceeds of the night went to the fight against cancer.
