The Lady Panthers fell to the Central Arkansas Lady Bears 4-0. Due to inclement weather, the Lady Panthers were unable to practice for a full week before the match.
After last week’s loss against Lamar University, the Lady Panthers had one thing on their minds: to come back to the Hill with another win under their belt.
Coach Garcia said, “Not having practice all week did have an effect on us for the game, but we made sure we went out there using our best strategies and playing our best game.”
In the first half of the game, both teams struggled to make a change on the scoreboard with a steady score of 0-0 throughout the first half. PVAMU goalkeeper Mellissa Aguayo made a total of four saves.
Abigail Escobar, Claudia Martinez, and Monica Diaz tried their best to make a goal, but it was another failed attempt.
The Lady Panthers returned in the second half hoping to make a come-back. The turning point came when UCA scored three conseccutive goals of their own, turning the game around for a score of 3-0.
As PVAMU tried to catch up with UCA, playing aggressively, they gained a penalty flag.
This gave UCA an opportunity for a penalty kick, which resulted in another goal in the last few minutes. The game concluded with a Lady Bear victory and a final score of 4-0.
The Lady Panthers will face Texas State University on Sept. 17 and Baylor University on Sept. 19.
