Junior mass communications major Christal Gibson organized the fall communications town hall meeting Monday in Hilliard Hall to address student issues.
Both students and faculty had the opportunity to voice their concerns.
Gibson said, “The purpose of this event is to bridge the gap between students and administrators.”
Faculty members addressed questions about the curriculum, textbook policies, the course catalog, and revamping the universiy broadcast system.
The administration is currently in the process of hiring new faculty members in order to ease the issue of class availability.
Steps are also being taken to make campus-wide broadcasting possible for communications students.
The department is currently looking to broadcast soon in the E.E. O’Banion Science Building.
The department has support in caring for the issues at hand.
SGA Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Richard said, “The Department of Languages and Communications has the full support of SGA and there are obviously areas that are lacking, which we are fully committed to rectifying.”
Faculty members and students alike agreed that in order to make progress, there needs to be a collective effort from faculty, staff and students.
