Lady Panthers have an up and down weekend

The Prairie View volleyball team split two matches during a two game home stand last week.

They played Houston Baptist University on Sept. 28 and Huston-Tillotson on September 30.

The match against HBU was one sided as the Lady Panthers failed to win a single match.

The Lady Huskies of HBU came out strong to begin the match and took an early lead in the first game and never looked back.

The next two games was a little more competitive as both teams went back and forth exchanging the lead but the Lady Huskies always found a way to come out with a victory.

The final score was HBU won 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, and 25-14).

The following game was against the Lady Rams of Huston-Tillotson University.

This match was also one sided but this time the Lady Panthers were on the winning side.

The Lady Panthers came out strong from the beginning serve and steamrolled their way to victory.

Their defense was the highlight of the match holding the Lady Rams to an average score of 12.6 points per set.

It was a very rapid win for the Lady Panthers as the game started promptly at 7 p.m. and ended at 7:55 p.m.

Although their overall record is not all that good at 4-14 the Lady Panthers are currently in first place overall in the SWAC with a 2-0 conference record.

Their next two matches are as follows: at Texas Southern University on October 5, 2010 at 7 p.m. and at Southern University in Baton Rouge on October 12, 2010.

The SWAC volleyball championship tournament begins November 18, 2010 in Montgomery, Ala.
