PV mocks death of Lincoln Tigers

Prairie View A&M University prepared for a homecoming victory with a spirit rally, mock funeral, and bonfire Thursday in memorial of the soon to be defeated Lincoln University Tigers.

The Marching Storm made their signature entrance as senior mechanical engineering major Joshua Grimes welcomed PVAMU family and friends to the spirit-rally with the university’s homecoming chant: “I say set yo’ homecoming out!” and the crowd responded, “Set it out, set it out, set it out!”

The Charles Gilpin Players held a mock funeral after the band’s performance. The ceremony featured a tombstone that read, “R.I.P. Lincoln University.”

After a chant from the cheerleaders, The Box kicked off a drum cadence to lead the crowd to the bonfire held at the northwest end of campus.

Miss PVAMU Tiffany Ward invited the crowd to support the Panther football team and cheer them on to a homecoming victory.

The bonfire concluded with a selection from the band and a chant from the cheerleaders.
