Alumni share drug, alcohol experiences

Prairie View A&M University alumni shared their experiences with drugs and alcohol during the Word on the Yard Talk Show Wednesday in an effort to increase awareness during Red Ribbon Week.

The panel consisted of four Prairie View alumni who now serve the university as staff, including Residence Director of University Village James Durant, Director of Public Relations Sheleah Reed, ROTC Lieutenant Commander Mike Jackson, and Alcohol and Drug Educator Darryl Williams. They gave students information and advice about drug and alcohol use by referring to their personal experiences as college students and as employees on campus.

Drug use can cause life-long effects, like hindering future professional aspirations. The seriousness of the problems drug misuse may cause was addressed as well.
