Students in Free Enterprise introduced students to various careers in the entertainment business and informed them on how to get jobs in this field during their Business of Entertainment Week.
The Fashion Week Texas Preview kicked off the week’s events featuring 12 different clothing and accessories lines.
The event was held in the MSC ballroom. Admission was $2 or two cans of food.
Senior agriculture major Kermit Lindsey and a senior business marketing major Joseph Cuillier, creators of Rbts Line, were featured among the 11 other designers.
Lindsey said, “We are just happy to be a part of this event. They are always fun for us to do, and we love featuring our latest clothes for everyone to see.”
A DJ spin-off was held Thursday, featuring DJ Guarantee and last year’s winner DJ Wall as well as several other DJs battling for the winning spot. The event took place in the MSC ballroom.
S.I.F.E. also debuted Club Black in the MSC ballroom Friday. The event featured the Prairie View slam team as well as the R&B duo, Derc and Jack.
Roberts said, “The purpose of Club Black was to provide students with ‘edutainment,’ a mix of education and entertainment.” The last event featured in Business of Entertainment Week will be Vision of Stardom, a talent showcase. It will be held in the MSC auditorium at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9.
S.I.F.E.’s mission is “to make a difference in the community and on campus by helping people develop a better understanding of how free enterprise systems work and how to use this information to empower themselves and achieve new success.”
All of the events were sponsored in part by the Career Services and Outreach Office housed in Evans Hall.
