BET tour ends in Pantherland

Students packed the yard with fun and excitement Friday afternoon, as the 2010 BET Black College Tour made its final stop at Prairie View A&M University.

Aaron Grayes, owner and president of Herkules World Promotions, said, “Although I work with my company and radio show, I enjoy hosting all the tours, and getting students excited about the events.”

Throughout the event, students participated in a variety of activities including the singing contest, name the beat contest, the two on two basketball, three point shoot out, and the freestyle rap battle, in which senior history major Bradford Traywick emerged as the winner for the second consecutive year.

Traywick said, “It was fun. I had really good competition and I was a bit nervous at first. Since I already own an ipod, I’ll probably just give the one I won from BET to my mother so she can download her favorite music.”

This year’s concert talent was Fonzworth Bentley, who performed a few of his latest singles and dazzled the crowd with his “CEO” swagger.

Bentley said, “I am here to express a sound message that is inspiring the students to finish receiving their education and become successful CEOs, and there is no better place for me to demonstrate my message through music than at these universities.”

BET also issued free testing to students who were interested.
