In 2010 the Prairie View A&M football Panthers had a dissapointing seasaon, not acheiving their goals and not repeating for another championship. The Panthers finished the regular season at 7-4. Soon after they would lose head coach Frazier III to North Carolina Central.
With key losses going into the 2011 season, including; QB KJ Black, RB Donald Babers, WR Shaun Stephens and Quinten Spears just to name a few. All who were intrical parts to the 2009 championship team. Sometimes you gain more when you lose players and/or coaches and the same can be said with head coach Nothern and the new recuits he was able to bring in on signing day. Nothern himself has a deeply rooted passion for Prairie View that iss undeniable. His defensive was the anchor of the 2009 championship team.
With the lost of Babers the running back position will have heavy competition with junior Jermaine Waddy being unable to carry the entire load at 5-6, 165. Fredrick Anderson, RB out of Cy Woods will be the top prospect receiving the opportunity for carries during the season. Along with Joe Sable and Adrian Middleton, the Panthers addressed key positions. Middleton is the most athletic prospect for the Panthers.
Northern said, “We will run a spread offense similar to Oregon.” With that being said Prairie View fans should be excited for the upcoming 2011 season.
