The Lady Panthers season came to an abrupt end as they fell short to No. 1 seeded Baylor University 66-30 Sunday.
Their NCAA tournament birth came after winning SWAC championship and earning the automatic bid as a sixteen seed. The Lady Bears showed why they are considered as one of the favorites to win the national championship, as they jumped out to an early blowout lead in the first half and never trailed in the game.
They started the first ten minutes of the game on a 20-2 run and led 36-8 at halftime, as they were anchored by standout forward Brittney Griner. The second half was a mirror image of the first half as the Lady Bears proved too much to handle for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Bears would lead by as much as 40 points to cruise on to victory. Freshman guard Siarra Soliz would lead the Lady Panthers in scoring with 12 points and sophomore guard Sharde Henry led the team in rebounds with five.
