Alumni magazine attracts students

1876 Magazine, a newly founded publication published by the Office of Student Affairs and Institutional Advancement, made its official debut to alumni, faculty, staff, and the student body of Prairie View A&M University earlier this month.

The magazine covers a wide spectrum of news and events, and features several lifestyle articles. The magazine is published in both spring and fall semester and gets it’s title from the year the university was established. The magazine highlights different university businesses as well.

Executive Director of Communication Sheleah Reed said, “This magazine is 25 pages of informative as well as relevant news in keeping up with our University. Reaching out to the alumni, current students, and prospective students is a goal of the magazine.”

This semester’s issue gives the readers the inside scoop on newly Head Football Coach Heishma Northern and the new additions to the different departments. The publication also highlights many activities in the works for the future including grants awarded and extension of programs in pursuit of continuing higher education.

Running with the fresh look theme, PVAMU is no stranger to the music scene, which is also highlighted in the magazine.
