If you need it, he’s your man

Senior marketing major Robert Jordan III, also known as “Three” on campus, takes on the tasks of being a student, entrepreneur, and artist while pushing himself to better his creativity and education. The Houston native, grew up finding ways to release his imaginative thoughts through his natural talents. “I started drawing cartoons I saw on T.V. during the same time I learned to write,” Jordan says. With constant encouragement from his parents to explore his creative passions, Robert found expression through art, producing and recording music, directing film, and writing poetry; all elements that would contribute to who he is today.

On May 21, 2006, Jordan and his family found themselves struggling with a life changing situation. Robert’s father, Robert Jordan II, died of heart complications in his sleep at the age of 40.

“I found myself getting rid of childish and selfish ways quickly. Within a day, my household went from having a great leader, to a position that needed to be filled. I realized early that God preordained it to happen, so I grew up quick and took the initiative to help my mother and younger brother.”

In 2007, Robert then found a job to relieve expenses and then graduated high school as his father would have wanted.

Entering Prairie View, Robert Jordan III found out how far his creativity could take him. His freshman year, he connected with one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s biggest producer Q-Smith for music collaborations. “At that time, Dorrough and the Prime Time Click were big on the campus scene. Working with them introduced me to the PV music scene,” said Jordan.

Soon after, he and some close friends decided to start shooting spoofs of the widely known MTv show “MTV Cribs” and called it “UC Cribs.” Jordan said,”Shooting it was all out of fun in the beginning, but it soon turned into another way of expressing my creativity. It began my love for directing film.”

Knowing how far his production could take him, Robert started working at The Panther Newspaper while also teaming up with well-known rappers Willie P, Trey Hood, Greg Malone (Deuce), and Kirko Bangz to create the group First Class.

“I built a booth in the living room of my Phase II apartment, and had my Motif 6 keyboard in my room to make the beats,” said Jordan. Through the help Robert’s production and recording, members like Kirko Bangz started to gain local respect leading to a signing deal with Warner Bros.

Now finishing up on his college career, Robert started his own media company titled Third Vision Media. The business consists of video and music production, while also contributing photo and graphic designs. Jordan said,”The main objective for Third Vision Media is to mix my creativity and business marketing.”

It hasn’t been a full six months and already Robert Jordan III has created videos for both University Village and University College, party promoters, and directed multiple music videos and business commercials. His future projects consist of directing for J-Mac of 97.9 the Box, Kirko Bangz, Def Jam artist Bone, and Radio One.

“I’m working towards having a job where my work becomes history and I love what I do” says Robert Jordan III. Just like the popular “Come to PV” video, you could find all his media work at ThirdVisionMedia.com
