The Prairie View A&M women’s track & field 4×100-meter relay team captured first place at the Texas State Invitational this past weekend in San Marcos, Texas.
Whitley Dobbins finished third in the 800 after a mark of 2:22.27. Leticia Bustamente placed second in the 3,000-meter run (11:18.87) with a strong outing, while two season lows were established as freshman Sylvonna Thompson ran 1:02.08 in the 400-meter hurdles, followed by Myesha Dixon’s time of 14.09 in the 100-meter hurdles. Thompson placed third overall while Dixon finished fourth.
Corinna Brown set a season-best in the long jump as the Virginia native placed fourth with a mark of 5.36 meters. Senior Andrea Chambers finished fourth overall in the shot put after throwing 12.94 meters, while Myesha Rice threw 37.36 meters to place fifth.
After a solid afternoon of running, Myesha Dixon hit the field and finished second in the javelin with a season-high throw of 35.42 meters.
In the relays, the team of Kaylon McNeal, Ariane Jordan, Erial Henderson and Myesha Dixon ran a time of 47.56 to finish first in the 4×100-meter relay.
