After a rough start, Homecoming 2012 takes on a positive note during the presentation of Prairie View A&M University’s royal court at the Annual Homecoming Coronation.
“This is a rare opportunity to see people dressed up,” said freshman Janae Harris.
Sophomore Carl Elam wanted the “chance to see the representatives of different organizations put their best foot forward.”
Although the spotlight was on the glamorous and sophisticated attire of the court, freshman pre-nursing major Brittany Johnson viewed this as a great time to know find out who is representing Prairie View.
Mr. Prairie View, Timothy D. Bryant II, and Miss Prairie View, Chasmine D. Cousins entered the event following a procession of trumpets.
The Prairie View Classic Dance Ensemble entertained the audience and court with a sorrowful, heart wrenching dance followed by an uplifting piece.
Christian Leach, a member of the Homecoming Coronation committee, found planning to be “an interesting experience that I look forward to next year.”
“People often lose sight of what homecoming really is, and this is it,” said Harris.
