Women’s golf places second in Prairie View A&M classic

Led by senior Shanequa Valentine, the Prairie View A&M women’s golf team finished second in the Prairie View A&M Classic Tuesday afternoon at Legendary Golf Course in Hempstead.
Valentine battled it out with rival Texas Southern golfer Kassandra Rivera, but Rivera was at her best and ran away from the field. She shot a 71 on Day 1 and wowed the spectators on Day 2 with a 66 for a tournament-low 137.
Valentine finished eight strokes behind Rivera on Monday and then shot an 81 on Day 2 for a 159 and a second place individual finish. Valentine said that after falling behind on the first day, she had to play more aggressive than she would have liked on Tuesday.
Shekinah Morris finished with the second-lowest individual mark for Prairie View A&M.
