SWAC fans doubt Lady Panthers

After being out voted by 9.6 percent to the Southern Jaguars, many SWAC fans put the Lady Panthers second to take home the title of SWAC Champs for the regular season.
Taking over the SWAC conference two years in a running, Prairie View Lady Panthers find themselves in the same position as they get close to the 2013 SWAC Tournament. Currently ranked No. 5 in the SWAC rankings, the Lady Panthers are far behind from the top spot with a 5-5 conference record.
Last year’s regular season champions Mississippi Valley are ranked two spots over the Panthers.
Unable to repeat their performance, Mississippi Valley is currently ranked No. 3 with a 7-4 conference record.
With eight more games left in the season, the Lady Panthers still have time to prove SWAC fans wrong.
In a poll to determine who people think will win the conference for the regular season in women’s basketball, Southern took 22 percent of the votes while Prairie View had 13 percent out of 1,104 votes.
Four of the eight games the Lady Panthers will be playing in the William “Billy” J. Nicks Building giving them the home court advantage and Panther support from the student body.
