Panthers leave mark at Texas State

Preston Woodard, Pierre Shepherd and Lucio Rosas captured first place finishes for the PV men’s track team this past weekend at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
 Woodard jumped an even 16 meters to win his third outdoor meet of the year as he accomplished that feat in his fourth attempt.
Shepherd topped out at 2.06 meters for his third outdoor title of this season while Rosas won his first career collegiate meet with a career-best time of 9:54.38 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Anthony Smith placed fourth in the shot put as he threw a personal outdoor-best mark of 14.49 meters.
Abel Simie placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:09.83 while freshman Dannie Luckey ran 54.43 in the 400 hurdles to place third.
Sorone Batiste earned a fourth-place finish in the 800 after clocking 1:51.03 while Crayton Johnson finished fourth in the 110-hurdles (14.89).
The mile relay quartet of Dewaylon Wilson, Evan James, DeMarcus Pierre and Batiste placed third as they ran 3:15.80 while the 4×100-meter relay team of Keon Campbell, Terry Gilbert, Jordan Powell and Edwin Stewart placed fourth (41.99).
The Panthers will return to the track in two weeks and participate in the 2013 SWAC Outdoor Invitational in New Orleans, La, beginning on Friday, April 19.
