The university’s radio station, PV U-Kno, held a talent show Wednesday to a packed crowd.
The 16 acts wowed the crowd with cover songs, dance moves and spoken word montages.
The talent show was hosted by sophomore mass communication major Marcus Sophus and junior mass communication major Jessica Barbers.
“I love hosting, it’s my life. God gave me this gift so that’s what I’m going to do. I love getting PV hyped and I love giving them a good time,” said Sophus.
“I love talking and performing. PV is the perfect place to showcase my hosting talents. I give all the credit to God; he the reason why I’m here,” said Barbers.
Malcolm Burnett won the talent show with his rendition of singer Rihanna’s Loveee Song. The crowd swayed and waved after every syllable.
“Malcolm represented PV 17 to the fullest,” said Sophus.
A lot of the acts left a huge impression on the audience including the fifth act, Spyro, who brought the crowd to its feet with his rapping ability and choreography.
Sixth act Chance Who, hailing from Houston, ran through the audience causing a uproar in the auditorium.
Additionally, Amber Caraway serenaded the audience with her rendition of the Anthony Hamilton’s song, the Point of It All, and a medley of other songs that made the audience stare in awe of the stage.
However, students still felt that the show lacked enough talented artists to keep the crowd glued to their seats.
After the first 10 acts, the crowd started to leave in hordes when rapper Kid Toon started to perform. Most of the remaining crowd exited when fellow rapper Deezy took the stage.
” My biggest problem with PV talents shows is that the acts are really not as talented as we are led to believe. It is kind of dumb for them to continue to have rappers when everyone leaves when they come on stage,” said junior accounting major Brea Walker.
