I told y’all I was coming for those meal plans…
Since I have been here at Prairie View A & M University, I have probably eaten in the MSC 20 times. I have not stepped foot in there this entire semester.
To be honest, the food makes me sick in more ways than one. Yes, meal plans are important. For example, the freshman who only have microwaves or those students who don’t know how to cook. What about upperclassman and students with full service kitchens?
The rule that states all students living in campus must purchase a meal plan is just crazy. Why on earth would I want to pay $1,000 a semester for food I don’t even eat?
I personally enjoy cooking my own dinner in my apartment. What’s the point of having kitchens in these apartments if they want us to use those meal plans?
It makes no sense. If that’s the case they could have used that space to make these apartments five bedrooms instead of four and lower our rent.
I understand the idea that making meal plans required should ensure that all students eat and no one starves. I don’t know about y’all but I’m gone eat. If I don’t know how to do anything else, I know how to eat, pray and count my money.
Other students at many other campuses voiced their opinions on collegeconfidential.com. Many feel as if the meal plans are just a scam. I think I would have to agree.
I pay a little over $1000 a semester for a meal plan. I never use that meal plan and it doesn’t roll over. So, where is that money going?
Well, I know $225 goes to those Panther points which I love, but what about the rest? I’m the type of person who likes to know where my money is going.
If I’m not using it for the meal plan, then what is it being used for? Somebody just paid a bill with my money. Texas A & M University only requires freshmen and sophomore students to have meal plans and they allow them to roll over from semester to semester.
Stephen F. Austin University exempts students from meal plans if they have a kitchen in their on campus apartments.
Maybe Prairie View should implement those rules.
