It is amazing to me how much we don’t know as Christians. So much information is in the Bible, but it is not until God opens out eyes do we see what new revelation he has for us. My eyes were recently opened just last year when I realized that the Old Testament commandments actually affected me more then I originally thought. Most of us know that Jews who follow the commandments in the Old Testament don’t eat certain foods like pork and other animals which are outlined in the Bible as being unclean. But how many of us know that there is scientific evidence that all the foods, which are designated as being unclean, are actually very bad for our health?
Maybe God commanded us to not eat these foods because he knew that in order for us to live victorious and blessed lives that he had to tell us what and what not to eat. God even commanded that we were not to even touch the meat of unclean animals. In Leviticus 11:3-47, God outlines the guidelines he wants his children to follow when choosing what to eat. Now although I’m sure the argument about not being under the Old Covenant anymore will surface, all I have to do is ask why are there still all this scientific evidence that these foods are not good for you? We as black people tend to have the worst diet historically because we were fed unclean meat for the most part by slave masters. Heart disease and high cholesterol run rampant as well. So I propose that maybe we should re-evaluate our stance on this commandment and see if God won’t bless us to live longer and healthier by observing what the Bible has always said.
Jews tend to be some of the healthiest people on earth. I think maybe this is because they have been obedient to those Old Testament commandments. Do your own research and choose who you would rather believe – popular opinion or what the word of God says.
