Richard Bloom, author of the novel “Victims: A Survival Guide for the age of Crime,” and “Keeping Kids Safe,” hosted a seminar promoting personal safety on Nov. 10.
Bloom, motivational speaker from Montgomery, Texas, spoke with audience members about taking precautions when being alone at night.
Bloom said that crime rates were higher in the holiday season and he advised his audience to do little things to create diversions from attackers, including walking in groups, avoiding talking on cell phones while walking, and avoiding conversation with strangers.
Bloom said, “Nobody thinks they’ll be a victim of violent crimes, which is why they are unprepared when they have an encounter with a criminal.”
