The House Judiciary Committee held a forum Monday at the Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing in the Texas Medical Center to discuss head injuries and other sports injuries in youth, high school, college and professional football.
Democratic Texas representative Sheila Jackson hosted the event, and committee members, Democratic Tennessee representative Steve Cohen and chairman and John Conyers Jr. from Michigan helped facilitate.
The forum was the third of four the committee plans to host and the objective was to help build awareness of the importance of proper safety in football.
Volunteering insight and testimonials were sports medicine specialists, brain and concussion specialists, youth advocates, as well as former NFL player Chester Pitts.
Pitts told the Houston Chronicle, “I don’t want that for my son. It is too rough a game.”
